Kangana Ranaut has been one of the most vocal actresses in the entertainment industry when it comes to shedding light on the unfair treatment of women in Bollywood. Being one of the few actresses to open up about the pay disparity in the Hindi film industry, she recently took to her official Instagram and shared a video of Priyanka Chopra Jonas talking about the same during one of her interviews. Sharing her opinion on the actress’ statement, Kangana claimed that she was the first actress to fight for equal pay while the rest used to do movies for free.

Taking to her Instagram story and sharing Priyanka’s interview, the actress revealed how women before her submitted to the patriarchal norms. She went on to claim that she is one of the first ones to fight for equal pay. She added, “And the most disgusting thing that I faced while doing this that my contemporaries offered to work for free on the same roles that I was negotiating for... She continued by stating that the actresses would then go on to publish articles that they are one of the highest paid in the industry. “In the film industry everyone knows that I only get paid like male actors and no one else... and they have no one else to blame at least now,” she concluded. On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will be seen in Emergency, her first solo directorial project. She will be essaying the role of India’s late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. A period political drama, the movie is based on the emergency period in India during the mid-70s, which was announced by the then PM. She also has RSVP Movies’ Tejas, Chandramukhi 2 and Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda in the pipeline.
