The trailer of 2019’s one of the most-anticipated movie, The Tashkent Files is out. The suspense thriller is based on the mysterious death of our former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The 2-minute 43-second long trailer takes us back to 1960s when the former PM passed away just hours after signing the Tashkent agreement.
Few said that he died due to a heart attack, while his family members and close friends believe that his death was a conspiracy and a planned murder. Mithun Chakraborty will be seen playing the character of Shyam Sundar Tripathi in the film. Watch the trailer below:
Director Vivek Agnihotri shared the trailer on social media and wrote, “There is more than what meets the eyes! The truth behind #LalBahadurShashtri’s mysterious death will be unveiled!”
Before dropping the poster online, the makers of The Tashkent Files had unveiled different posters on social media to generate curiosity among netizens. Apart from Mithun, the film stars Shweta Basu Prasad as Ragini Phulle, Pankaj Tripathi as Gangaram Jha, Pallivi Joshi as Aisha Ali Shah, Naseeruddin Shah as PKR Natrajan, Rajesh Sharma as Omkar Kashyap, Prakash Belawadi as GKS Ananthasuresh, Mandira Bedi as Indira Joseph Roy, Vinay Pathak as Mukhtar, Vishwamohan Badola as Justice Kurian Abraham and Prashantt Guptha as Vishvendra Pratap Singh Rana.
Earlier talking about the film, Vivek told PTI, "This issue has been raised in Parliament for the last 50 years and yet we are trying to find out the truth. I picked up the gauntlet and tried finding the truth, and hence I filed RTIs, but I was shattered. The RTI said there is no information. Our beloved second Prime Minister dies and the biggest democracy in the world does not have any information and documents.”
