If you were
waiting to see Saif Ali Khan to do what he does best, i.e. play real and
off-beat characters- then his forthcoming release, Chef might just present your
favourite star in the same light.
Team Chef
released the trailer of the film today at a media event and we can’t stop
gushing over the adorable dad, played by Saif.
Directed by Raja
Krishna Menon and produced by Bhushan Kumar, the film is based on the 2014
Hollywood hit by the same name, which not only starred Jon Favreau in the lead
role but was also directed by him. Scarlett Johansson and Sofia Vergara were
also a part of the film.
And now, coming
to our desi version of Chef, apart from Nawab Pataudi the film stars child
artiste Svar Kamble, who plays Saif’s son, Padmapriya (who plays Saif’s wife)
and Chandan Roy Sanyal. Svar, who hails from Mumbai has earlier worked in 2016
Bollywood film, Chidiya.
Talking about
Chef, well, it is a unique tale of Roshan Kalra (played by Saif Ali Khan), a
chef by profession, who sets out on a journey to figure out his true priorities
and source of happiness. It's a story of a father's rediscovery of the bond
with his son.
While a few
scenes in the trailer between Saif and Svar are absolutely spectacular, the
chemistry between Saif and Kannad/Telugu actress Padampriya is also pleasant.
The film's
principal photography began in October 2016 in Kochi and has also been shot in the busy
locations of Delhi like Chandani Chowk. It was scheduled for a worldwide
release on July 14 2017, however, it was then postponed
to October 6 2017, to avoid
conflict with Jagga Jasoos.
