Looks like, Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri had a great first day at the box-office. The film, which is based on a surgical strike, has been receiving positive reviews from classes and masses. On the other hand, Anupam Kher-Akshaye Khanna led, The Accidental Prime Minister has got mixed reviews from critics. The film, which was mired into controversy and gained media attention, has registered a slow start on its first day at the box-office.

According to a report in Box Office India, Uri has earned Rs 8-8.25 crore, while The Accidental Prime Minister has made Rs 3.25-3.50 crore on its first day.

SpotboyE editor Vickey Lalwani rated Uri with 3.5 stars and in his review wrote, “Nothing to tell you about the story of something that is in this country's history, but hats off to Aditya Dhar's (director) detailing and shot-taking. The celluloid version of the Uri surgical strike of September 2016 takes your breath away in many frames. Uri is passionate film-making- so well-etched out, deets in place, no compromise on using tough locations.

Not rewriting history, so I now go over straight to performances. Yami Gautam says goodbye to glamour and is a perfect foil to Vicky's plans; this lady is kaabil, she impressed us in a very small role in the Hrithik Roshan starrer by the same name. Pink girl, Kirti Kulhari, is in the pink of form. Paresh Rawal calls for respect, no Gujju accent here which has often been prominent in his portrayals. Swaroop Sampat is marvellous. And then, we have a Narendra Modi. Rajit Kapur!”

While rating The Accidental Prime Minister 2.5 stars, he wrote, “It first struck me when I was reminded: How often journalists blame the desk if the celeb they have written about, calls them up and says he/she is not happy with the story they have published on him/her? I am a journalist and I know. I have goofed it up in my 18 years of journalism and passed the buck. Journalists often provide incomplete information. This is perhaps exactly what journalist Sanjaya Baru did when Dr Manmohan Singh pointed out his issues with one of his earlier stories on him.

It next struck me when Dr Singh offers Baru a job. Haven't celebs got close to journalists and swayed them into their fold? So far so good. And I fastened my seat belt. But turbulence (politics) lay ahead. Suddenly, Vijay Gutte (director) stops flying within the limits of the prescribed track, he deviates. Baru's book The Accidental Prime Minister gets modified on celluloid and the timing of the film (100 days to go for LS election) cannot be bypassed as accidental. Dramatisation, thy other name."

Now, let's see if how these films fare in the coming days, as the word of mouth publicity for both films is decent.
