Vidya Balan returned to the big screen this Friday with
her comedy drama, Tumhari Sulu, where the talented actress plays an RJ for the
second time in her career (after Lage Raho Munna Bhai).
Still From Tumhari Sullu
The film, written and directed by first-timer Suresh Triveni,
has been receiving some great reviews by masses and critics. However, its
opening figure at the the box-office is a bit low. The film has managed to
collect Rs 2.50 to 2.75 crore on Day 1.
Author
and SpotboyE.com film critic, Khalid Mohamed rated the film with 3
stars and appreciated the performances by Vidya Balan, Neha Dhupia and
Manav Kaul. While reviewing the film, he wrote, “Of the ensemble cast, Manav
Kaul is excellently nuanced throughout. Neha Dhupia is terrific, too, never
striking a false note.Without a doubt, Vidya Balan is outstanding. Using
her voice as a lethal weapon, flicking her tongue to go “oops” and employing
those whirpool eyes to dart a thousand words in a single look, here’s one of
the year’s most endearing performances worth a big warm bear hug. And dare I
say, award trophies? Way to rock, Ms Balan.”
Still From Tumhari Sullu
Vidya
Balan is on cloud 9 with the response she has been getting for Tumhari Sulu. In
an earlier interview with SpotboyE.com Editor, Vickey Lalwani, Vidya,
while talking about playing a late-night RJ who receives all sort of
calls, revealed a traumatic fact during her college life. She said, “I
must admit that way back in my college days, I used to get a lot of calls on
landline from boys who wanted to talk weird kind of things with me. There were
even calls where the caller wanted to talk sexual stuff. It was quite
traumatising.”
Coming back to Tumhari Sulu, while the film may have
opened to low figures, but strong word of mouth and excellent reviews will
surely pump up the collections through the weekend.
