While the film’s
opening day collection was average, it received a higher opening than last week's
Anushka Sharma-starrer Phillauri (Rs 4.02 cr).
According to the trade pundits, Taapsee Pannu's Naam Shabana is getting an
extra footfall because of Akshay Kumar's superb cameo and Baby's fantastic
box-office collection record.
Baby had
registered an approx figure of 9 crore on its Day 1. However, the film featured
Akshay Kumar in lead, while its prequel, Naam Shabana, has him only in a cameo.
Shabana, is a tough spy with a take-no-prisoners attitude and the film follows
her on an important mission and it is quite the ride. The film revolves
around Shabana, who joins the Indian secret service, to extract revenge on her
boyfriend’s killers. Taapsee is seen in a de-glam avatar in the film,
stripped of make-up and glamorous clothes. Film is directed by Shivam Nair
and also stars Anupam Kher, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Danny Denzongpa and Manoj
Bajpayee.
Coming back to
Naam Shabana’s box-office collection, as mentioned by Taran Adarsh, Sundayis crucial and will determine a large part of
the film’s fate.
