Helmed by Karan Johar and directed by Punit Malhotra, Student Of The Year 2 starring Tiger Shroff and debutantes Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria received mixed reviews after it hit the theatres on Friday. The film earned Rs 12.06 Cr on Friday then saw an increase as it minted Rs 14.02 Cr on Saturday and then, on Sunday the numbers decreased as it did business of Rs 12.75 Cr.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers and wrote, “#StudentOfTheYear2 saw limited growth on Day 2, while the sixth phase of polling [cinemas were shut till evening] + #IPL2019Final [evening onwards] affected its biz on Day 3... Fri 12.06 cr, Sat 14.02 cr, Sun 12.75 cr. Total: ₹ 38.83 cr. India biz. #SOTY2”

Yesterday, taking to Twitter, he wrote, “#StudentOfTheYear2 witnesses growth on Day 2, but lacks the appreciation for a solid jump... Mumbai, Delhi, NCR plexes performing better... #IPL2019Final today [Sun] will hit biz, evening onwards... Fri 12.06 cr, Sat 14.02 cr. Total: ₹ 26.08 cr. India biz. #SOTY2”

And on Saturday the tweet read, “#StudentOfTheYear2 puts up a fairly good total on Day 1... Biz slowed down towards evening shows... Sat and Sun crucial... Substantial growth - especially at plexes - is essential for a healthy total... Fri ₹ 12.06 cr. India biz. #SOTY2 is Tiger’s second highest opener *so far*.

 
SpotboyE Editor Vickey Lalwani rated the film 3 stars and wrote, “SOTY 2 works. It works, first because of Ananya Panday. Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan have competition. This leggy lass is confidence personified. Chunky and Bhavna's daughter comes out with flying colours. It then works because of Tara Sutaria, who is good but sadly her performance is not very consistent. The girl lacks depth in some of the scenes, especially those when she wards off Tiger in the first half and then again in the second. Also, her role is not well written in terms of her actions to convince you about her decisions. Fair if we don't form an opinion about anyone in his/her first film. But one thing is clear, both Tara and Ananya are here to stay. They will get many more opportunities and let's wait for few of those before we pass a judgment on them.”
