This Eid has turned out to be an exception for
Salman Khan. For last 5 years, Salman Khan's films have marked 100 cr up business on Eid but Tubelight has been a disappointment for Khan.
Kabir Khan’s war drama has managed to make Rs. 19.09 cr only on Eid.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted,"#Tubelight has underperformed on Eid... Generally, Salman films set new records/do roaring biz on Eid, but it's an exception this time...
What's surprising is that #Tubelight hasn't crossed ₹ 30 cr *on a single day* till now... Not on Sun... Not even on Mon [Eid holiday]...#Tubelight
Fri 21.15 cr, Sat 21.17 cr, Sun 22.45 cr, Mon 19.09 cr [Eid]. Total: ₹ 83.86 cr. India biz.”
Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan’s Day 4 collections were Rs. 27.05 Cr and Rs. 36.62 Cr respectively.
Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan, is based on the 2015 American war drama Little Boy. Salman plays the simpleton Laxman, whose only goal is to bring his brother, Bharat (
Sohail Khan), back home. Bharat was selected in the Indian Army and set to the border to fight against the Chinese forces in the 1962 Indo-China War.The film also features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu and late actor Om Puri in pivotal roles.
Well, with Salman Khan’s film struggling to cross Rs. 100 crore, his fans would surely be disappointed.
