Yesterday, we told you that the three releases this
Friday, The Ghazi Attack, Running Shaadi and Irada, had negligible takers on the
first day, and thus, theatres refrained from giving them the 9 o’clock slot
and pushed them to the afternoon show.
The prime time slots went to Akshay Kumar-starrer Jolly
LLB 2 since it continues to draw crowds to theatres. Therefore, we weren’t
surprised with the dismal first day collections of the three releases.
Of the lot, The Ghazi Attack starring Kay Kay Menon, Om
Puri, Rana Daggubatti, Rahul Singh and Taapsee Pannu minted to the tune of
Rs 5.9 Cr, while Running Shaadi starring Amit Sadh and Taapsee Pannu managed
to earn a meagre Rs. 2.8 Cr (approx). Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted The Ghazi Attack's box-office collection as follows-
#TheGhaziAttack Fri ₹ 1.65 cr. Note: Hindi version... All versions: ₹ 4.25 cr... Excellent word of mouth should ensure a jump in biz.

On the other hand, Irada that features Naseeruddin Shah,
Arshad Warsi, Sagarika Ghatge and Divya Dutta was a complete washout and
registered a negligible collection.
Jolly LLB 2 continued its steady run at the ticket
counters and has pocketed Rs 81.85 Cr in two weeks. Film trade analyst
Taran Adarsh tweeted Jolly LLB 2’s collection. Take a look:
#JollyLLB2 continues to dominate, despite new releases... [Week 2] Fri 4.14 cr. Total: ₹ 81.85 cr. India biz... Strong Weekend 2 on cards!

It’s a sad state of affairs as both The Ghazi Attack
and Irada had received good reviews from almost everywhere. Running Shaadi too
had received mixed reviews, but that too didn't warrant this type of a wash
out.
"Audiences want to watch mainly Jolly LLB 2, and
that's why we are running the new releases in the afternoon shows, and the
other non-prime slots," said a person from the ticket counter of one of
the theatres we visited (on grounds of anonymity). The person went on to say
that the theatre owners have to look onto their business aspect and see as to
which movie would draw more footfalls, and thus they are compelled to such
decisions.
While the chances of the films making any impact on the
box-office are bleak, let’s wait and watch to see if any of them manages to
register an improved performance at the ticket windows.
