Anushka Sharma
has packed a punch in Pari and her histrionics should bear fruit. The film
which released yesterday has thrown up a collection of approx Rs 4 crore at the
box-office on Day 1 (according to Box-Office India).
Having got fairly good reviews, the deterrent to Pari was Holi--- which
suddenly gave rise to a lot of theatres in many states (Rajasthan, MP,
Chattisgarh, Bihar- to name a few) go shut. We brought you this piece of news
in our story titled 'Distributors Upbeat About Anushka Sharma Starrer Pari'
last night.
A Still Of Anushka Sharma From Pari
"Pari is doing superb in West Bengal. Literally, I had a feeling before the release that it will do well in West Bengal as the maximum shooting was done here .We had opened wide releasing in 118 theatres across Bengal which is a good number for a movie like this. Today it has opened with 100 percent occupancy in some the singles screens (Priya, Menoka, Star) as well as multiplexes (Inox, Pvr, Cinepolis, Carnival). I am really hopeful that the numbers will be great and in the box office it will be one of Biggest hit of 2018," says West Bengal distributor, Satadeep Saha of SSR Cinemas Pvt Ltd.
Arjun N Kapoor from KriArj Entertainment (co-producer) had said, "In many
places outside Mumbai where theatres did not shut totally (on Friday), they
still opened only after 3 pm. But the word of
mouth is so good that Saturday and Sunday will prove to be
good days for this Anushka starrer. However, states like West Bengal where
people celebrated Holi yesterday (Thursday), have registered extremely good
collections on Day 1 itself."
Sanjay Chatar,
leading distributor for Central India, had also spoken to us. He had said,
"Major cinema halls in MP and Chattisgarh areas don't play movies on the
Holi day in the morning; if they begin operations they start off only at 6
pm.Rajasthan began only after 4 pm. So the film's business in these
crucial territories will only emerge over the weekend."
A Still Of Parambrata Chatterjee And Anushka Sharma From Pari
SpotboyE.com has it that Thane and Pune registered 80 per cent occupancy in the
evening shows on Friday and Punjab too is doing well. But again, there
are places like Nizam, Mysore and others down South that are reeling under a
theatre strike.
To repeat from
our review of Pari, 'Anushka Sharma pulls out all stops and gives perhaps her
best performance till date. As Rukhsana, she has a very difficult
role which can only bring a lot of questions in your mind: Why are a group of
cruel men hunting her down? Why does she frequently put her face in a bucket of
water? How can she disappear when she is just right in the room where
Parambrata Chatterjee's girlfriend Ritabhari Chakraborty is about to kiss him?
Too many questions will haunt you in the first half, but Prosit Roy (director)
answers them all in the second with conviction and style.
A Still Of Anushka Sharma From Pari
Watch her in the scene where she looks at Parambrata attending to Ritabhari's
phone call. Watch her in the scene when she eats from the dustbin and then
settles down on the dining table to devour a full plate of white rice. The scene where she kills a dog and the morgue guy are the highlights of the
film, but in neither of the two nor in any other does Roy go over the
top.
Co-producers KriArj Entertainment and Clean Slate Films deserve praise for
backing such content and moving away from the norms of the lady in white,
haunting songs, purani havelis and dark nights, which could have still governed
such a story'.Pari stars
Anushka Sharma, Parambrata Chatterjee, Rajat Kapoor and Ritabhari Chakraborty
in the main roles.
