After enjoying a double digit opening at the box office Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal, dropped on day 2. Opening on a figure of Rs. 12.40 crore, on Saturday the movie garnered Rs. 8.01 crore at the ticket window. A 40% drop despite being a solo release at the box office. Thus, making the movie collection in two days about Rs. 20.41 crore that seems to be pretty low then expected with popular faces like Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in the main lead.

According to us, we feel reasons why it must have experienced a drop is comparison of the film with the previous flick helmed by the director Imtiaz Ali starring Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan; followed by targeting only a certain type of audience, thus limiting its footfalls at the theatres. Though it enjoyed mixed reactions from the audience, the makers and stars can hope for a better deal today as it closes its opening weekend on Sunday. This Sara and Kartik starrer released on Valentine’s Day.

Trade analyst and film critics Taran Adarsh expressing his disappointment in his Tweet mentioned, “"#LoveAajKal dips on Day 2... Shocking part is, the decline has come at metros/multiplexes, which is its target audience... Weak at Tier-2 cities as well as mass circuits... Needs a miracle to salvage the show on Day 3... Fri 12.40 cr, Sat 8.01 cr. Total: ? 20.41 cr. #India biz."

Just like the movie received mixed reactions, it also expressed pros and cons before the release.
