Rani Mukerji’s Hichki recorded an incredible first weekend collection as they showed massive growth again on Day 3. The sensitive, soulful movie with an important socially relevant message, made
Rs 3.30 crore on Day 1, followed by
Rs 5.35 crore on Day 2. Now, Day 3 collections are here and the film has made Rs 6.70 crore. Trade expert Taran Adarsh took to social media to share the figures a while back.
Audiences and critics have given the meaningful film two thumbs up. A film that is appealing across all age-groups, Hichki, is expected to have a solid hold over the weekdays with it riding high on overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth.
Rani plays the character of Naina Mathur who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds. The film focuses on turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring down at challenges that life throws at one and ultimately winning over them.
“The teacher (actually she can be a teacher to few newbies of today who know nothing about acting but are strutting about everywhere) is in top form and you cannot point out one scene where she fails you as a performer. What stands out in the script is that at no point it tries to make you empathise with Rani or her Tourette Syndrome--- which is the real victory of Malhotra as it is very easy in such kind of an underdog tale that you force sympathy down the throats of your audience to be with your protagonist--- in an attempt to get sell a few more tickets.”
Let’s wait and watch how well the movie holds on weekdays.
