This weekend, Bollywood had two releases- Sonakshi Sinha, Diana Penty, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal, Jassie Gill-starrer, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi and Utkarsh Sharma-Nawazuddin Siddiqui film, Genius. While the trailer of Happy was applauded by one and all, it has witnessed a low collection at the box-office. Clearly, the laughter it drew has still not resonated. On the other hand, Genius has had an awful start.

Tweeting about Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, trade Analyst Taran Adarsh has written: #HappyPhirrBhagJayegi has a slow start on Day 1... Fared better in North... Needs to witness substantial growth over the weekend + maintain a strong trend on weekdays to leave a mark... Fri ₹ 2.70 cr. India biz... First part had collected ₹ 2.32 cr on Day 1” And according to a report in BoxOfficeIndia.com, Genius has collected only Rs 65-70 lakh maximum. Clearly, the collections are low. We are sure that the makers of Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi expected better returns on the opening day. We don't know what Anil Sharma expected in his kitty from his son's debut, which he himself has ruined it. The insult to intelligence that Genius provided is to be seen, sorry never to be seen to be believed.

SpotboyE.com Editor, Vickey Lalwani didn't return impressed much with either of the above two films. Genius, in particular, had evidently annoyed him no end. He pushed himself to THREE in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi and gave only ONE star to Genius

Dissecting Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, he said: “Exactly 2 years have passed to Happy Bhag Jayegi, but I still remember the first one rather vividly. I don't think I shall retain such strong memories when it comes to the second. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is funny but kinda. It drags a bit especially closer to the interval and even for few minutes after it- before the captain Mudassar Aziz eventually steers the ship to safety. You will come out from the film with a smile, but it will soon fade away as you reach the parking lot. A lot of jokes are forced and fall flat, and even anti-racist dialogues keep springing up for some strange reason. That's not funny, is it?"

About Genius, he said: "Genius is something that could have been avoided- conceptualising, executing and even reviewing! How can Anil 'Gadar'  Sharma make such a movie for his son? Obviously he had made a grand promise to Uttkarsh in his childhood, but I wish he had told him, 'Putar, mere se nahin ho payega'. So Daddy Dearest yet went about it and the result is you run for cover. Genius is nothing but nothing. No screenplay, no dialogues, no acting, no emotion, no songs... nothing to mention about. The film is dead on arrival. There's no story, either else I would have made the exception of breaking my rule of unravelling the content to fill up the emptiness which I am feeling while penning this. What happened, Mr Sharma?Aren't you the same man who made Hukumat, Gadar and Apne?”

Well, the results are out. However for the above two films, we sincerely hope they garner better response at the ticket windows Day 2 onward. Critics and  janta are often not on the same page and that's fine.
