The action-comedy film, A Gentleman which stars Sidharth
Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez, has got a slow start at the box-office on
Day 1. The film couldn’t set the cash registers ringing as it made only Rs. 4.04
crore.

The additional reasons could also be the Ganesh Utsav and
the heavy pours which might have restricted the footfall at the theatres.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and posted the
box-office collection figure of Day 1. He shared the tweet with the caption:
“#AGentleman Fri ₹ 4.04 cr. India biz.”

The film was not well received by author and SpotboyE.com’s
film critic Khalid Mohamed as well, who labelled it as a “Mindless
thriller”. He also went on to say that A Gentleman was an astounding waste of
financial resources and investment of the viewer’s money, time and endurance
stretching to 133 minutes, it’s a mystery why this low-concept
crash-pow-bone-cruch-head-banger. He also said that the thriller is quite
similar to Abbas- Mustan’s vintage hits.
A Gentleman is a story about Gaurav (Sidharth Malhotra )
dreams of settling down with Kavya (Jacqueline Fernandez), the woman of his
dreams, but she prefers a man who's more adventurous and willing to take risks.
But there's a Gaurav lookalike called Rishi, who works for Unit X as an
undercover agent.

Considering Sidharth and Jacqueline have done some heavy
promotions for the film, let’s hope the film picks up during the weekend.
