Hope we are
priced wrong, but looks like another washout week is in stored for Bollywood.
This Friday,
box-office witnessed the release of three big films- Shraddha Kapoor starrer
Haseena Parkar, Rajkummar Rao’s Newton and Sanjay Dutt’s comeback project
Bhoomi. BUT unfortunately none of these could set the cash registers ringing as
Bhoomi opened to Rs 2.25 crore, Haseena Parkar made only 1.25 crore and Oscar
entrant, Newton collected only Rs 85 lakh on Day 1.
Popular trade
analyst, Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the figures of Bhoomi. He
wrote, “#Bhoomi Fri ₹ 2.25 cr. India biz.”

This was a surely a much-awaited project for Dutt's fans but looks like they are in for a disappointment as critics have also slammed the film. Was Sanjay Dutt in a rush to make a comeback and he chose Bhoomi in a haste? Maybe going through more scripts before choosing this one would have helped?
Ditto is for Siddhanth Kapoor, whose debut film is not looking very promising. Was his decision of choosing Haseena Parkar as his debut vehicle stemmed from the excitement that his sister plays the lead in the film. We bet the debutant must be in an acute self-introspection mode. As far as Sharddha Kapoor is concerned, we wonder if she can't carry a film solely on her shoulders?
Coming to Rajkummar Rao’s Newton, well, the film garnered a positive response from the critics and also made an entry to the Oscars 2018. However, the first day collection is the lowest among the 3.
So, is Newton
going to be one of those classic pieces that had matter but could not manage to
bring in the crowd- something which happens so commonly in Bollywood?
Well, its just
the first day and as stated earlier, we hope our prediction of a washout week
is wrong and these films pick-up through the weekend.
