It’s Thursday and we are back with the early predictions of this week’s releases. Aug 15 will see the clash of two big Bollywood films- Mission Mangal and Batla House at the box-office. A while back, we brought early box-office predictions of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nitya Menen and Sharma Joshi starrer Mission Mangal. To know about the same for Batla House, we got in touch with Film Business and Trade Analyst Girish Johar where he pegged the first day collection of film between Rs 12-13 Cr.
Girish Johar told SpotboyE, “Both of them are very big films and luckily it’s Thursday, coinciding with Rakhi, eats-up one holiday, partial holiday in North, is a long weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Both the films are looking super exciting. I expect the Indian box-office collections of the both the films to be around Rs 35-40 Crore.
Talking about Batla House, as we all know, it is very thriller, dramatic action kind of a film. It has John Abraham as the leading actor, who has a great fan following. He’s on a good curve, in terms of appealing to the audience. Whatever story he’s been, his fans find them very interesting and engaging. Batla House also has a good tracking at the box-office. But it is not as wide as his last outing in the similar period, Satyameva Jayate, which was a hardcore action film. But it has very good advance booking. It will appeal to a certain set of multiplexes. It’s not a mass single screen, which he has last time with Satyameva Jayate. As the tracking is quite good, I would peg the film to start anywhere between Rs 13-15 Crore. If it gets good word-of-mouth, it will go further.”
Asking about John starrer clashing with Mission Mangal, Johar concluded saying, “Right from Akshay to John, they are not in the competing space; they have set up a very cordial release phase of the film, where both will coincide and come out easily. Their fans and they themselves are calling ‘Desi Boys at the box-office’. There’s no mudslinging, it’s a very friendly and amiable kind of a release. Both have good breathing space too at box-office. Both films have different story lines and different budgets. They also cater a different audience. As a fan of both actors, personally, I would want both films to exceedingly well.”
