The first-day release of Ayushmann Khurrana was exciting for the actor as it was his highest-grossing film. Leaving the first day collections of his own films like Dream Girl, Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho among others behind, Bala made a total collection of Rs 10.15 cr on Day 1.
SpotboyE Editor Vickey Lalwani rated the film with 4 stars and wrote in his review, “Don't you dare blink when Ayushmann tells his dad (played wonderfully by Saurav Shukla) that the problem lies in the genes that he has transmitted to him. Don't you dare look at your WhatsApp (even though you are expecting a mushy text from your lover) when Bhumi Pednekar lashes out at Ayushmann to ask him that how has he put her on Instagram? And don't you dare breathe, yes, I wrote BREATHE, when Yami tells Ayushmann that why she is a vanity freak."
