Irrfan Khan’s latest outing Angrezi Medium suffered majorly because of the outbreak Coronavirus. The movie started on a low note on its opening day with only managing to earn Rs. 4.03 crore. Outbreak of Coronavirus had theatres in major cities like Delhi and NCR closing down, thus, resulting into movie minting low revenue at the box office. Also yet another reason for the movie to score less on its opening day was it being leaked online on its release day itself.

Taking to his Twitter account Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#AngreziMedium Fri ₹ 4.03 cr. #India biz.Note: Biz has been severely affected due to closure of cinema halls in several states. #CoronaVirus #COVID19.” Post the announcement of the theatres shutting down in several parts of the country as well as overseas, makers of the film assured it to be re-released soon, but didn’t reveal the date as per the ongoing scenarios across the world. Previous release at the box office Baaghi 3, too was affected due to Coronavirus.

Homi Adajania taking to his Instagram story wrote, “At midnight all theaters will be close across India till authorities give us further notice. We will re-release #AngreziMedium when it is safe to do so. Till then stay safe and be kind to each other. #johaisohai.”

As per our prediction regarding the movie opening figures, trade analyst Girish Johar had said, “As for its first day, I will peg the film to start somewhere between Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 4.5 crore. I hope it does more, but this would be an ideal start for me and then depending upon the word of mouth and audiences’ feedback, it can go up.” ALSO READ: Coronavirus Outbreak: Irrfan Khan Starrer Angrezi Medium To Re-Release After Things Settle; Filmmaker Homi Adajania Confirms
