The Sky Is Pink is a wonderful film.
I have given it 4.5 stars. I strongly feel that it should be India's official entry to the Oscars, next year. I had the opportunity of catching up with the enlightened director who has helmed this film, Shonali Bose. We were at Roy Kapur Films (co-producers on The Sky Is Pink) and over hot cups of tea, we chatted for on and around an hour.
Shonali was candid and took every question with her chin up. The director, who made Amu and Margarita With A Straw in the past, explained why she cast Priyanka and Farhan in The Sky Is PInk. I also got to know in the conversation a lot more that I bet most people didn't know about Shonali and all that went into making this film. We concluded with her fight against the Censor Board in the past over Amu and Margarita With A Straw.
Last night, I hear that many people from the industry saw The Sky Is Pink and were bowled over by the way it ha been handled, the manner in which Priyanka and Farhan have acted their parts- Zoya Akhtar, Kiran Rao and Nikhil Advani, in particular.
