Ekta Kapoor has brought the horrex film franchise, Ragini
MMS, to the world of digital entertainment. The web series titled Ragini MMS
Returns – starring Karishma Sharma and Riya Sen -- has been grabbing eyeballs
for its bold poster and teaser.
The story revolves around Simran (Riya) and Ragini
(Karishma) and the eerie happenings that they witness at an old deserted
college.
Last night, Karishma EXCLUSIVELY spoke to SpotboyE.com.
Excerpts from the conversation that followed:
Could you take us down the storyline of Ragini MMS
Returns?
The web series comprises a lot of horror, sex, fun and
drama. The audience should wait and watch.
How did you get this role?
I auditioned for this part. I have worked with Ekta
Kapoor before. I have been part of Pavitra Rishta (Karishma’s TV debut) and Yeh
Hai Mohabbatein. I also have featured in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and then went on
to do a web series titled Life Sahi Hai.
Your role in Ragini MMS Returns is drastically different
from the roles you have essayed in the past. This involves a lot of skin
show...
(Cuts in) Obviously TV will not have skin show, right?
This is precisely why digital medium is gaining ground because we can express
however we want to. This is the only “expressive” medium for actors, directors
and producers.
Were you uncomfortable doing the bold, intimate scenes?
We (actors) are like soldiers and the director is the
colonel. Whatever he tells us, we follow. It’s a part of your job. We all get
intimate in real life, so I don’t get what’s the big deal if you do the same in
front of the camera. Frankly speaking, I am very comfortable in my skin.
The posters are extremely bold. Did you really pose
backless?

What was your parents’ reaction to you doing such a
risqué web series?
My parents believe in what I am doing. They are very
supportive.
What’s next after Ragini MMS Returns?
I have already shot for a film titled Hotel Milan which
has Kunaal Roy Kapur in the lead role and is directed by Vishal Mishra. The
venture should hit theatres in December or January next year. Apart from that,
I am looking forward to signing more films.
Will you go back to TV?
As of now, I don’t see that happening. I am keen on doing
films and web series. I am reading a book called Mata Hari and would love to
play her in a movie. It’s my dream role, you could say.
How are you going to position yourself? Have you hired a
PR agency?
It’s a strategy. Can I please keep it a secret?
