Bhumi Pednekar’s filmography boasts of some strong characters and the actress can clearly be called the filmmakers’ preferred choice for powerful roles. From Dum Lagake Haisha to her fresh release Bala, the actress’ journey has been impressive.Recently, we spoke to the actress about Bala and the controversies surrounding it, her previous release Saand Ki Aankh and her upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh.

The response to Saand Ki Aankh has been good enough and Bhumi’s smile is indicative of the fact as she says, “It’s a film that people are going to remember.” She also seems content with the way the film is building up at the box-office. We told her that we found the film quite linear. Click on the video to find out what she said. WATCH VIDEO ABOVE.

Bhumi heaps lots of praise on her co-star as she calls Bala, Ayushmann’s best performance till date. In the film, the actress essays the role of a strong, independent lawyer Latika who faces issues due to her dark skin tone. We remind her of the controversy that erupted post the trailer’s release as netizens opined that a dark-skinned actress should’ve taken up the role, instead of Bhumi. Her strong reply is a reflection of the characters she essays on celluloid as she says, “My colour cannot decide what my level of happiness in life is going to be.” Furthermore, she asserts how the film doesn’t make a mockery out of someone’s shortcomings. We had also interviewed her co-stars from Bala, Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam who gave their take on the dark-skinned controversy around Bhumi’s role in the film.

Well, I can’t agree enough with the actress as having seen the film I only have the best words for the terrific trio- Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam. You can read my review below.

After a full-fledged conversation around Bala and Saand Ki Aankh, we moved on to her next film Pati Patni Aur Woh and the controversy that arose over Kartik Aaryan’s monologue on marital rape. Bhumi defended her co-star and the film as she said, “We are listening to whatever people are saying but all I can say is that it is not a sexist film. The idea is not to make fun of something as serious as any kind of gender abuse that women go through. I assure you that it’s our Pati Patni Aur Woh.”

As we said before, Bhumi’s opinions and her films clearly reflect her strong persona. Atta girl!
