Actor Riddhi Sen is one such actor who is vocal on all issue. West Bengal is currently battling the worst situation caused by the cyclone Amphan which hit the state on Wednesday and left many people homeless. There is no electricity in the parts of the state.
Actor Riddhi Sen took to his Instagram handle and requested people to come forward for the help of the people. He wrote, “This is a time when we all need to do our bit, however we can. Let’s not use the word ‘donation’, this is basic ‘human’ responsibility. Those of us who are associated with the word ‘privilege’ must carry out certain responsibilities, things we need to do now and also during times which are not so harrowing. In these few days the idea behind the word ‘necessity’ has changed, I sincerely hope that we realise what we need to do even when times aren’t this dark, that’s where the real fight lies.”
He further wrote, “I am humbled and thankful to MASS(Madhyamgram Association for Social Services ) for allowing me to feed 700 people in Madhyamgram, citizens of our city, who doesn’t have a ration card and are in dire straits since the time the lockdown took place. MASS is providing various necessities to people who are affected due to Amphan and the Lockdown. We are alien to the word ‘hunger’ , we are alien to the word ‘homeless’, these words come to life beyond television channels and social media, what I witnessed today really opened a big blindfold from my eyes, many people are coming forward to help, discarding the idea of religion, politics and class, let’s do our bit too .”
A massive a clean-up operation has begun in West Bengal post the storm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conducted an aerial survey. Authorities have evacuated people before the storm struck.
