Even though the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed Srijit Mukherji's film Gumnaami with a U certificate, the controversy related to the film is nowhere to near dying.

Recently, Srijit Mukherji and grand-nephew of Netaji, Chandra Kumar Bose had an argument on social media. The two indulged into verbal spat related to facts of the film.

Chandra Kumar Bose, also BJP Vice-president of West Bengal, tweeted, “Why does @srijitspeaketh deliberately avoid the angle of K D Upadhayay a murderer, in his film who was also rumored to be GumnamiBaba? Srijit states he has covered all possibilities, but has he? @narendramodi @PMOIndia @AmitShah @JPNadda @rajnathsingh @PiyushGoyal @Swamy39.”

To which Srijit Mukherji replied, “Never said I have considered all possibilities, have ALWAYS said the film shows the 3 main possibilities about NETAJI'S DEATH explored by the Mukherjee Commission report & is not abt Gumnaami Baba. U see, @Chandrabosebjp, I don't change my stance every alternate tweet;) #Gumnaami.”

The film is based on Gumnaami baba who was assumed to be the legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Baba led the life as Hindu saint in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh in the 1970s or 80s. Netaji Bose died in a plane crash in 1945 which has been doubted by many.
