Dwitiyo Purush has already earned a whopping 3 Crores at the box office, and is looking at a strong third week. Director Srijit Mukherji says, “They had to increase the number of shows in the second week, because of high demand. We are looking at a clear run in the third week too.” He adds, “Dwitiyo Purush has exceeded my expectations as far as the box office is concerned. It has overtaken many of my blockbusters and might well end up among my top three, after Mishawr Rawhoshyo and Gumnaami.”

Not only is Dwitiyo Purush being screened at various cities in India, the sequel to Baishe Srabon is all set to travel abroad. There will be shows in Sydney and Melbourne in the coming week. “We will also screen Dwitiyo Purush in five cities in the US. We are yet to confirm the cities,” informs Srijit Mukherji.

The talented director is happy about the success of Dwitiyo Purush for a number or reasons. Srijit Mukherji explains, “First of all, this is not Durga Puja time, when Bangla films are expected to do well. It is not even a festive time.” He adds, “You also have to consider the coarse, unfiltered language of the film. Then comes the intense sexual content, that too of a homosexual nature. Dwitiyo Purush is not a safe film. It’s not a family film. It’s not popcorn-friendly fare. Yet the audiences are flocking in to watch my film. I’m so proud of my audience!”
