Director Debaditya Bandopadhyay has announced his next film titled ‘8848’. The film is a biopic on Everest expedition and is inspired by Sunita Hazra’s life. It is reported that the film shooting will start in April and will be held in Nepal. Sunita Hazra is the first Bengali woman to scale the mountain Everest.  

Director Debaditya Bandopadhyay’s last film is Naxal. The film stars starring Mithun Chakraborty and Dhritiman Chatterjee in pivotal roles. The film is based on Naxals which were very much prevalent in West Bengal. 

The story set in the backdrop of 1971 where few Naxalite youths escape. Among them, one dies while others are still absconding. Nearly after 42 years, a FAX arrives at the Kolkata Metro Railways Headquarters which says that one of the youth Anirban is going to commit suicide. The news shakes the Kolkata city and police starts an investigation. How will things change in the story all about?


Gargi Roychowdhury, Shankar Chakraborty, Nishita Goswami, Kapil Bora, Kanchana Moitra were seen in the pivotal roles in the film.
