Datta: Shaheb Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta Starrer To Start Shooting From December

Nirmal Chakraborty is finally going to begin the shooting of his next directorial Datta. The shooting will begin in December of this year. The news was confirmed by  Shaheb Chatterjee who has replaced Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed in the film. Datta shooting was delayed because of star cast. 

According to the report, the director said film got delayed as Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed was not permitted to visit India and he will be able to return after a couple of months. Ferdous, who is essaying the role of Bilash in the film, was in India to shoot for Datta in April.  

The film got stuck when Ferdous during his April visit was seen at a political rally where he campaigned for a TMC candidate. Following which the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) blacklisted him from visiting India.  After the incident, the film has been on hold. 

The film stars  Shaheb Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Biswajit Chakraborty, Devina Kumar in the lead role.
Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel, Datta is a romantic story.  It revolves around an affluent Brahmo woman and an indigent but brilliant a Hindu young man. This is Nirmal Chakraborty’s first film direction. The star cast includes stars Joy Sengupta, Biswajeet Chakraborty, Rituparna Sengupta.

Chakraborty has designed the costumes and the props, keeping in mind the particular period. The director reportedly researched for seven to eight months before he started shooting.
The release date of the film has not been finalised.
