Confirmed: Director Srijit Mukherji Announces Sequel of ‘Baishe Srabon’ on Twitter

Director Srijit Mukherji has announced a sequel to his 2011hit film ‘Baishe Srabon’ and the name of the film will be ‘Dwitiyo Purush’. The film will star Parambrata Chatterjee and Raima Sen in lead roles

Director Srijit Mukherji has announced a sequel to his 2011hit film ‘Baishe Srabon’, which starred Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Raima Sen, Abir Chatterjee and director Gautam Ghosh. The director made the announcement on his official Twitter handle and the name of the sequel film will be ‘Dwitiyo Purush’.

Taking it to the Twitter handle, Srijit wrote, “Time for a re-union... #DwitiyoPurush.”


According to reports, the story of Dwitiyo Purush will start from where Baishe Srabon had left off. The film will see Parambrata Chatterjee reprise the role of chief detective Abhijit Pakrashi and Raima Sen will be essaying her character of Amrita. 


Baishe Srabon story revolved two journalists and two police officers (one suspended) chasing a vengeful Kolkata psychopath, who leaves behind couplets from Bengali poems. Baishe Srabon received positive reviews from critics, and was one of the highest-grossing Bengali films of 2011. The film received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification for adult language.

Meanwhile, Srijit Mukherji has started promotion of his controversial movie Gumnaami based on a legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The film is based on Gumnaami baba who was assumed to be the legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Baba led the life as Hindu saint in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh in the 1970s or 80s. Netaji Bose died in a plane crash in 1945 which has been doubted by many.
