Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's exit from their Royal duties called for a lot of attention. In a surprise move, the two gave up their 'royals' tag and moved out of their home to lead an ordinary life and become 'financially independent'. Ever since then, speculations as to why the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex made this decision are doing the rounds of the internet. The lastest piece suggests that Meghan did not want to be in the shadow of her sister-in-law Kate Middleton and hence, the move to exit.

A report in Celeb Dirty Laundry has stated that Meghan did not want to be the second-best to Kate. They derived to the conclusion post a few claims made by Vanity Fair’s "royals watcher” Victoria Mather when she appeared on MSNBC Live. She appeared live to discuss the life of Meghan Markle and was quoted saying, “Don’t forget Prince Harry is — you know, has always been the spare to the heir…I don’t think she wanted — she didn’t want to be second b(est. And I don’t think she got that that was what — that is what the fusty-dusty protocol of the royal family consists of,” She further added,” It is a matter of precedence.” The Royals watcher also stated that Meghan gifted a knife to Kate on Christmas.

However, Gossip Cop has done some research and reported that Victoria Mather never officially held the title called 'royals watcher'. She was actually the travel editor for Vanity Fair and she was associated with the publication till 2018.
