N.B.A. star, 41, and his daughter Gianna, 13 died as their helicopter crashed while flying through very rough terrain. The retired star had won an Oscar award in the year 2018 for his short film and his winning speech is now giving us goosebumps

It's a sad day. All basketball lovers are grieving the death of former NBA star Kobe Bryant. This morning, reports of him passing away in a helicopter crash shocked one and all. Along with him, even his daughter Gianna lost her life. Ever since the reports made it to the internet, fans across the globe are pouring in condolences for Kobe's wife and family. Stars took to social media to express their shock and grief on his death. Post retiring from the sport, Kobe had penned a short film called Dear Basketball which even won an Oscar.

In 2018, Kobe and Glen Keane's animated short film Dear Basketball won an academy award. The five-minute film was based on a love letter to the sport he had written in 2015. Here we have his winning speech. Kobe took to the stage and dedicated his trophy to all those who were a part of the project. He even mentioned his wife Vanessa Laine Bryant and their daughters. Not even two years since then, the news of his demise has put everyone in a state of shock. Reportedly, nine people were on board the helicopter that crashed in Calabasas. Post Kobe's demise, NBA issues a statement, that read, "devastated by the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna. For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning."
