The recent firing that took place at Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia by a 19-year-old man has shaken the internet! Several celebrities like Richa Chadha, Swara Bhasker, Atul Kulkarni, Tehseen Poonawalla and Anurag Kashyap, too, have expressed their sorrow and anger over the tragedy

The situation in Delhi is only worsening with each passing day. As if all the outrage over CAA, NRC and its repercussions weren’t enough, things have now gotten a lot sterner.  At present, Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia Islamia are full of protestors expressing their displeasure over the recently-passed CAA from the past few days. Today, however, all hell broke loose after an unknown man opened fire at the Jamia Millia, injuring one student. He could be heard chanting, “yeh lo azaadi” slogans, creating an atmosphere of panic and fear.

As a response to this tragedy, several celebrities like Richa Chadha, Swara Bhasker, Atul Kulkarni, Tehseen Poonawalla and Anurag Kashyap have come forth and expressed their anger, shock and disgust. Swara Bhasker wrote, “There is nothing surprising or shocking about this.. this is the logical conclusion of what we brought to power in 2014.. read any of the Sangh ideologues- this is where we were headed all along when we voted them in! #Delhi #MartyrsDay.”


Anurag Kashyap, who has been vocal in criticising the government, tweeted, “यह सरकार साफ़ साफ़ कह रही की जय श्रीराम और भारत माता की जय बोल के , हिंदुत्व के नाम ओर जो चाहे करो , मारो , काटो , हम कुछ नहीं होने देंगे । अब ही शक है की सरकार और पार्टी ही आतंकवाद पैदा कर रहे हैं ?”

Richa Chadha, on the other hand, tweeted, “हिंदी का मुहावरा है - हाथ पे हाथ धरे बैठना,” referring to the Delhi Police. She added, “orget about your illicit affair with the moron maulana, who seems to guess correctly the colour of your underpants, You support this guy? Say yes or no. Don’t deflect, answer, if you have the guts to be honest. Do you support this guy?”

Ex-Bigg Boss 13 contestant Tehseen and filmmaker Atul Kulkari compared it to Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination done by Nathuram Godse and wrote, “A man is shouting pro #CAA #NRC slogans at #Jamia while showing a gun to the students on the day our #MahatmaGandhiji was shot dead with a gun by Godse & @DelhiPolice is relaxed ..Doing chai pe charcha and doing their maan ki baat.”

Meanwhile, the accused, who opened fire at Jamia, has been arrested and identified as a 19-year-old Ram Bhagat Gopal Sharma.
