Bigg Boss 2 Contestant Payal Rohatgi's Fiancé Sangram Singh On Her Arrest: ‘There Is No Law Against Freedom Of Speech’- EXCLUSIVE
Model-turned-actress and Bigg Boss 2 contestant Payal Rohatgi finds herself in trouble after she shared a video on social media. On Sunday, the Rajasthan Police detained the actress for making objectionable remarks against the family of freedom fighters Motilal Nehru and his daughter-in-law Kamala Nehru, father and wife of first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

She was detained yesterday and today, her bail plea got rejected and she has been asked to stay in jail till Dec 24. So, we decided to get in touch with her fiancé, wrestler Sangram Singh. Here are excerpts from our conversation with him:

Payal is behind the bars for posting a video and expressing her opinions. What do you have to say?
The people who are actually burning this country are not facing any trouble from the Law. And a person who has just posted a video on social media is being sent to jail. How right is this? This is mere pressure by the Government because they are at power; they have done this to Payal.

Payal

But, don't you think making such a video is not right?
I agree making a video against anyone is not right, but it is definitely not a crime. And if it’s a crime, then what democracy and freedom of speech are we talking about?

Her bail plea was rejected by the court today...

Yes, I was present in the court when it got rejected and it was extremely painful to see it happen. Bina hamara side sune, bail reject kar diya unhone.

What are you planning to do next?
I will again apply for the bail and I will keep applying until she is out. Mostly, day after, she will be present in the court again. I still have faith in the judiciary. I hope and pray her bail gets accepted next as she is not a criminal.

PAYAL 2

Did you get a chance to speak to Payal at the court?
She is in custody, so obviously, I didn't get a chance to speak with her in detail. But yes, she is very much disturbed with the whole incident. She simply spoke her mind but a person who is powerful on the other side dragged her to the court, so what can be done now? I am putting all my efforts to get her out.

What about complainant Charnesh Sharma (Rajasthan Youth Congress General)?
I didn't meet him in person, but people present in the court told me that every month he put 2-3 FIR's against someone. In fact, my lawyer told me he is habitual of doing such things. But I don't want to comment on him by hearing things from others.

When did you guys come to know about the case registered against Payal?
We definitely had an idea that a case has been registered against her. But we didn't take it so seriously because there is no scope of such cases in our law. I myself was part of Delhi police before and there is no law that says one can't have freedom of speech. I am still trying to understand how and on what grounds they have registered an FIR against her.

Go on…
I really want to understand that even after Supreme Court orders aise mukadme khaarij kyun nahi kiye jaate. There have been decisions by the Supreme Court that one can't take away someone's freedom of speech and expression, still why such cases are being entertained?
