TV actress Ekta Kaul, who married Veere Di Wedding actor Sumeet Vyas in September 2018, is expecting her first child with him. The couple took to social media to announce the good news.
We got in touch with Sumeet Vyas yesterday and brought to you his exclusive interview, and now here's the to-be-mom speaking to us about this great news. Excerpts from our conversation with Ekta:
Your phone must have not stopped ringing after you shared the news of your pregnancy on social media...
(Laughs) Actually, my friends and family already knew about it, right from my first month. So, there were no surprise calls as such.
How did you manage to keep it a secret till now?
So, Sumeet was shooting out of Mumbai and I was in Jammu with my parents for the initial 4/5 months, since it was little difficult managing alone with so many changes going on in my body. I wanted to be around my family at that time.
So, the news of my pregnancy was controlled and hidden because of this arrangement.
Whose idea was it to announce to the world now?
My idea! Sumeet and I were having breakfast together and suddenly I thought bata dete hai. So we announced it.
Who was the first one to know about this good news. And if it was Sumeet. How did he react to it?
My mom and dad were the first ones who got to know about it. Since I tested myself at 4 am in the morning and then I waited until 6 am and then shared the news with Sumeet. I remember he was in deep slumber and he told me wait give me 10 mins. I can’t register it right now. I will call you back and then he called back and we had our moment.
In this lockdown situation, how are you taking care of your health and check ups?
It’s not difficult at all. Police here is very cooperative. If you show them your doctors appointment, they let you go. In fact, they always make sure to inform me that I need to take utmost care since I am pregnant.
What are you secretly praying for- a boy or a girl?
I am just praying for a healthy, happy and extremely naughty and talkative baby. I love kids who ask a lot of questions (laughs).
Thought of any name for the baby?
Sumeet has already decided a name for the boy and I have decided a name for the girl. Let’s see who gets to keep their name.
Will you continue acting after becoming a mother or will you give some years to the baby?
Of course I will continue working. But yes after I am absolutely sure that my little peanut is not going to miss me after I am gone. Frankly, I don’t want to miss my initial moments with the baby. So, I will get back to work when I feel the time is right.
