Thank you so much.
How did you keep it a secret for so long?
I thought there’s no point talking about these things. Anyway, first 2-3 months they say that batana nahi chahiye. Time rolled by and then, we were attacked by corona across the globe.
So, when is Ekta due?
We’re expecting her to deliver in the first week of June. Hopefully, things will be normal by then.
Have you thought of any names?
Right now we have thought of some names no doubt. We need to speak to my Dad. Woh thoda kundali mein vishwas rakhte hain. After that, we shall finalise.
And you must have started reading name-books, shopping baby clothes and some toys too if I am not wrong?
Yeah, but right now the shopping has stopped.
Is the baby cot ready?
Yes (laughs).
So what else is happening with you in this lockdown phase?
There’s a script that I’m reading right now. I was supposed to start shooting for a web series but obviously now I don’t know when it will kick-start.
You are writing a script too, I heard..
Yes, I’m developing one. I have written in the past and enjoying it all over again.
And what’s on the movies front?
There was an Indie film that we were supposed to do in London but pata nahi abhi kya hoga uska.
Will this lockdown extend beyond April 14? Your gut feeling?
I feel that this will extend, at least till the end of April. Coronavirus is being spread faster now and in fact, the crowd that had gathered recently at a few places only worsened the situation.
And how are you and Ekta managing at home, with no domestic help I guess?
We divide the work. She cooks and I do the cleaning.
You’re getting your groceries and medicines delivered at home?
Yes, that is happening. The shops are right below our house, so they do deliver.
How do you manage with Ekta’s health checkups?
We have gone out twice so far for it. My aunt is a doctor and she's looking after her. Aunty owns a maternity hospital.
Any preference? Daughter or son?
We don’t have preferences per se. Some day we feel it’s going to be a daughter and then some days, we feel it will be a son. The baby should be just healthy.
But that’s the joy of pregnancy, it keeps you guessing almost all the time…
Yes, unlike abroad where some of our friends get to know the sex of their unborn baby, I think the fun goes away if you know it beforehand.
