The Internet Loves Kalki Koechlin: Digital Career Recap
Kalki Koechlin has not just been known as a credible Bollywood actor but is also an internet favourite. Before her next Zee5 original, Bhram, we took a look at her internet journey
It is safe to say that Kalki Koechlin is not just any other Bollywood actor. Whether it is her choice of movies or her quirky acting style or her characters which always seem to stand out, she makes a mark in every on screen appearance she makes, no matter the length. Over the past couple of years, she has also made her mark in the digital content space, whether it’s been in some of the biggest shows or even short films.
Kalki’s digital content journey started in 2017-18 when she had already her mark in Bollywood with films like Shaitan, Dev D and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara already under her belt. Paving her way as an artist who doesn’t believe in the old school running around trees kind of cinema, she had already created a niche of her own.
A little known fact is that Kalki’s first web show was Smoke on Eros Now in the year 2018. Set in Goa, the show is an exciting cocktail of drugs and mafia. Even the though the show did not gain much popularity, her performance was noticed. She also did a couple of strong short films on Youtube which went on to go viral and are among the best Indian short films.
The year 2019 though seems to be the standout year for Kalki. She first starred in the Prime Video show, Made In Heaven, in the beginning of the year and her performance as Faiza. Although the character was despised, one of the finest things about Kalki is that she doesn’t shy away from characters like that. More recently, her role as Batya Abelmen in Sacred Games 2 as Guruji’s aide was powerful and packed quite a punch.
There’s more in store for Kalki this year as her upcoming Zee5 original which seems like a supernatural thriller has her in a lead role. The trailer is truly spine-chilling and we can’t wait to see what else she brings to the table!
