Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan starring web series Tandav, directed by filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar released on January 15. According to the latest report, an FIR has been registered against the makers and actors of the series in Mumbai. Reportedly, the UP police have also arrived in the city to begin their investigation in the case. Tandav premiered on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. Since its release, the web series has made it to the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

ANI reported that an FIR is registered against the makers and actors of web series Tandav in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar Police station. The report stated that the FIR is registered under sections 153 (A), 295 (A) and 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code. The tweet made by the news agency on Twitter read, “#Maharashtra: FIR registered against the makers and actors of web series 'Tandav' under sections 153 (A), 295 (A) and 505 (2) IPC at Mumbai's Ghatkopar Police station.”

Meanwhile, another video reported today saw the Uttar Pradesh police visiting a police station in Mumbai in connection to the Tandav web series case. The UP police arrived today in Mumbai and immediately started their investigation in the matter. For the unversed, the makers and actors of Tandav found themselves in midst of controversy as the web series faced massive outrage against it on social media. Several demanded a ban on Tandav, citing that certain scenes hurt religious sentiments. Amidst the controversy, recently, director Ali Abbas Zafar issued a public apology with an official statement released on his social media handles.
