When Tom Hanks Said He Was Going To Steal Everything He Possibly Can From His Inferno Co-Star Irrfan Khan
Throwback to the time when Tom Hanks tried to imitate Irrfan Khan during Inferno days and he even called Irrfan the coolest guy in the room
Irrfan Khan was one of the prolific actors not only in the Bollywood industry but also in the West. The actor used to stun everyone with his impeccable acting chops. He sometimes even used to overshadow the lead actor as well in the film. In fact, even his Inferno co-star Tom Hanks was a little intimidated with his presence on the sets of Inferno. Yes, there was a time when he revealed what he used to hate about Irrfan Khan and also called him the coolest guy.
While talking to the New York Times in 2019, Hanks was at his gracious best when he said, “Here’s what I hate about Irrfan Khan…” Hanks said at a press event. “I always think I’m the coolest guy in the room, and everybody’s hanging on to every word I say and everybody’s a little intimidated to be in my presence. And then Irrfan Khan walks into the room. And he’s the coolest guy in the room.” That's not it, he even tried to imitate him as he was so impressed with Irrfan’s acting style.
He continued, “And as soon as I walked up to him I said, ‘Irrfan Khan, I’m going to steal from you everything I possibly can. I’m going to start speaking very quietly in films. I’m going to wear very nice suits. And I will draw out the last sound of every sentence that I say.’ And by doing that, I will be doing a very pale imitation of the coolest guy in the room.”
Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29 after succumbing to the neuroendocrine tumour. Instagram has also memorialised his profile, adding a ‘remembering’ tag over his name on his official account.
