Mark Ruffalo Reveals He Almost Didn’t Take The Role Of Hulk But Robert Downey Jr Convinced Him In True ‘Iron Man Fashion’ – VIDEO
If you’re a die-hard fan of the MCU  (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movies or even the superhero HULK, we are sure you must be knowing that actors like Edward Norton, Eric Bana and quite a few have been featured as Hulk in the past before Mark Ruffalo took charge forever. Ever since he starred in 2012 The Avengers, one could only associate Hulk with Mark Ruffalo but you know what? Mark almost rejected the role of Bruce Banner aka Hulk that changed his career. Yes, he himself revealed that he was ‘scared’ to be a part of this biggest franchise. What an irony! The Hulk was scared.

Jokes aside, the actor who has been an integral part of the MCU since 2012, made the revelation during an online appearance on Jimmy Fallon's chat show, The Tonight Show. When Jimmy said that he heard a rumour about Mark not taking up the role, "I was scared," Ruffalo simply stated. "I didn't know what I could add to what I already thought had been done so well before me. And I had only been doing indie movies up to that point so I was like I don't know if I am the right person for this role," he added.

Ruffalo revealed that The Avengers director Joss Whedon told him he'd be perfect for the part and then Downey Jr called him to do some motivation but he does it in true Iron Man style just the way he does it in his movies. "Joss Whedon's like, yeah, you are the right person. And then I got a call from Downey, it must've made it to him that I was hemming and hawing, and he just simply said, 'Ruffalo, let's go. We got this.' In true Iron Man fashion. And then after that, I was like, I guess I have to do it," he said.

In the video, he also recalled the time when he asked for a script but the director has none, however, he still gave like a 20-page script. As he read the scene between Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) he was like, “Okay, I love this.” Well, after a lot (little) of a pep talk, Mark got convinced to play Bruce and the rest, as they say, is history.
