After uniting with Priyanka Chopra for a wedding comedy, Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor have now come together for MGM’s Legally Blonde 3. The film stars Reese Witherspoon, who will be seen reprising the role as attorney Elle Woods. Legally Blonde 3 is produced Hello Sunshine studio with the franchise’s original producer Marc Platt. If latest update is anything to go by then Mindy Kaling is all set to co-write the film with Dan Goor. Yes, you heard that right!
According to a report in Deadline, Legally Blonde 3’s screenplay will have an entirely new fresh spin. Confirming the same on Insta, Mindy posted a snapshot of the news and wrote, “Finally some use for my Elle Woods fan fiction! So excited to be reunited with my friends @reesewitherspoon @laurenneu and Dan Goor to work on this movie. Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap people!”
The reports of Mindy Kaling teaming up Priyanka Chopra for this project started making headlines since last year. We had reported that the duo are teaming up for a new film based around a big fat Indian wedding. Universal Pictures is developing the film after winning an auction for a pitch by Kaling, Priyanka and Dan Goor.
A report in an International portal Deadline suggests, “Kaling has an option to direct this film. She will write it with Dan Goor, who is co-creator and exec producer of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He is producing with Kaling’s Kaling International, Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures, 3Arts’ Howard Klein and Goor. Klein produced Late Night and was an EP on The Office.
