Movie Review: Banjo, Play It & You'll Have Fun, Paisa Vasool

We all go to theatres with preconceived thoughts, those who say they don't are lying. So yeah, I drove down to see Banjo this evening thinking that it will be a headache and I came out feeling quite sheepish.

Ravi Jadhav's directorial debut in Bollywood is definitely a one-time watch and you are going to be impressed at several points.

Riteish Deshmukh, you didn't take a wrong decision to flag off your production house.

I think the first half is a bit weak as it has lot of moments which just fizzle out, but the second half hits a crescendo. And mind you, Vishal-Shekhar play a big role in the ascent. The duo has churned out some foot-tapping music, perhaps the climax number Om Ganapataye Namaha Deva could have been better.

This is arguably Riteish's best performance till date. Why has this man done so many sex comedies which are hardly different from one another? Why has he done those multi-starrers where he's only one of the ingredients in a mixture? Does he not get too many offers? The time has come to serve him with a tray of meaty dishes from which he can pick and choose.

Nargis Fakhri tries a bit too hard, she is passable in some scenes but needs a dance coach pronto. At times you get a feeling that she even might be the next winner of the Smita Patil Memorial Award. Moving on, she can't pronounce 'Andheri'! Haven't six years passed after she made her debut with one of the best talents of this country Ranbir Kapoor (Rockstar)? But then sorry Madam (that's what Riteish calls her in the film), maybe you got too much into the skin of the character since you're shown a girl from New York right?.

Luke Kenny plays his part with grace and like the plot, brings back memories of Rock On!! Ironically, you are fed with the trailer of Rock On 2!! for starters.

Play it again? No, some movies don't have a repeat value--- but I repeat that you'll have fun if you go for Banjo once.

P.S: I had tucked 2 Anacin Tablets too in my jeans pocket when I headed to the theatre--- but they haven't been consumed.
