Dream Girl, Movie Review: Why Was It Not Called Fantasy Girl? Didn't Even Dream This Ayushmann-Nushrat Flick Will Be So Hilarious

Even if you are one of those who has a poor sense of humour, you will laugh your lungs out in the Ayushmann Khurrana-Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl. I have always believed that the quality of a film lies in its writing, but sadly we are letting this skill go down in every profession including mine. Realisation will of course dawn, thankfully Ekta Kapoor and Raaj Shaandilyaa chose the right man, Raaj himself, for the job. Rib-tickler is a modest word for the dialogues.

Dream Girl leaves you with such strong impressions that some males are definitely going to come home and impersonate as a female, which Ayushmann is (or rather gets himself to be) hired for, in a friendship call centre. What follows is a comedy of errors but who all get trapped in it will make your jaws drop especially at the interval point. The Queen of Soaps has always excelled in her freeze points.

Ayushmann is now running away to glory at breakneck speed and he adds one more feather in his cap with this portrayal. The more I write about him, the less it will be.

Nushrat Bharucha has a stunning presence on-screen. I don't know if Team Slumdog Millionaire was right or wrong in rejecting her for that reason, but I won't ever forget her in the scene wherein she alights from an auto wearing an almost-plain purple dress. As for her component of talent, it's perfectly fine including expressing anger and shock which even some top actresses fail in. No shaque.

Annu Kapoor is a champion, who continues to add value in every project he takes up. The man who has made retro music on radio and TV more heartwarming takes you on a merry-go-round by playing a Hindu and Muslim with equal ease.

The film would have left something to be desired if Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh, Rajesh Sharma and Shashi Ranjan hadn't been a part of the dream, err, fantasy. Hey, why was the film not called Fantasy Girl?

Nidhi Bisht is the icing on the cake.

Haven't you booked your tickets for Dream Girl yet? You must be dreaming!

The film quietly leaves an important message that we have become so obsessed with the virtual world that we not just don't have time for those who are our near and dear ones but also start despising them as a consequence.

I am going with FOUR.
