Vidya Balan Joins The New CBFC Board, Says ‘Hopefully Cinema Will Now Reflect Realities’
CBFC’s latest board member, Vidya Balan speaks up about her new role and responsibilities...
In a shocking turn of events last night, we came to know
that Pahlaj Nihalani has been removed from his position as the Chief of
Central Board of Film Certification and noted lyricist Prasoon Joshi will
take charge as the new CBFC Chief.
The government also reconstituted the existing board and
the talent power-house, Vidya Balan is a part of the revised board.
Vidya Balan Is The New CBFC Board Member
Vidya, who is pretty excited about this new journey she is about to hop on, said in a statement, “I hope to fulfill my responsibilities as a member to the best of my abilities. I look forward to this new and exciting phase where our cinema will be allowed to reflect the sensibilities, realities and complexities of the society we are living in today.”

Besides Vidya, the new members’ list includes- Vivek
Agnihotri, Gautami Tadimalla, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert
Nongkynrih, Waman Kendre, T S Nagabharana, Ramesh Patange, Vani Tripati Tikoo,
Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Mihir Bhuta.
Prasoon Joshi Steps In As The New CBFC Chief
The news of a revised CBFC board and Chief came within one month of Smriti Irani taking charge of the ministry of information and broadcasting (I&B). People had been saying that Smriti Irani is from the film and TV industry and thus she would definitely bring about a big change, and her first big step makes every Indian cine-goer happy.

Prasoon also wasn't far away from talking about the new
role. “Good intent is the best beginning. Bearing responsibility and doing my
best has been my endeavour. I have believed that right and responsibilities are
better served with constructive contribution. One hopes to make a positive
difference with the guidance and support of respected minds,” he said.
