With the lockdown imposed in the country currently, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam is stranded in Dubai but has been trying his best to help the COVID-19 relief funds. The Kal Ho Na Ho singer has been performing in virtual concerts and has been doing his part to help. Meanwhile, stranded in UAE, Sonu Nigam’s comments that were made three years back might cause trouble for him. After facing a lot of criticism for his forced religion tweets, amidst living in Dubai, the singer faces backlash once again as people urge the UAE police to boycott him.

Back in 2017, on Twitter, singer Sonu Nigam tweeted about the Muslim call to prayer. While living in India, Sonu Nigam took to his social media handle to express his feelings about the morning Azaan. In his tweet, the singer spoke about forced religion and the noise that emerges from the loudspeakers from temples and gurudwaras were also problematic and added that it creates noise pollution. The singer went on to mention in his tweet that the prayer disturbed his morning sleep, which in return stirred up a storm on social media with the comments perceived as Islamophobic.

Now, with Sonu Nigam stranded in Dubai currently due to the ongoing pandemic, the comments made by the singer over three years back have resurfaced on social media. Many social media users took to the micro-blogging site to tag Dubai Police asking for some action to be taken against Sonu Nigam. One user tweeted, “#sonunigam@DubaiPoliceHQ you immediately arrest #SonuNigam. This has insulted our Prophet. In a tweet, tomorrow you will have to answer on the Day of Allah also,” sharing the tweets made by the singer. Check out the tweets below:








Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam’s son studies in Dubai being the reason he is in the country. On the other hand, Nigam recently performed in the virtual concert which saw many Indian singers helping to raise funds.
