Shilpa Shetty Reveals Samisha Was Born After 5 Years Of Trying Out All Options To Get Pregnant And Suffering 'Several Miscarriages'
Shilpa Shetty welcomed her daughter Samisha in the month of February 2020 via surrogacy. The thought of having a sibling for her son Viaan, was always on the actress’ mind, but destiny didn’t favour her for the longest time. Shilpa herself who has a sibling, sister Shamita Shetty, valued the importance of a sibling in her life and thus, wished for the same for her son as well. Initially the couple tried of having a baby, but the actress suffered miscarriages.

Thus, leaving them with two options, adoption and surrogacy, talking about adoption, she revealed to Pinkvilla, of beginning with the adoption process but unfortunately due to missionary shut down due to a tiff, the actress who waited for four years in order to have a second child, finally opted for surrogacy. Meanwhile, she also revealed about an auto immune disease which acted as an hurdle in her conceiving process. She said, “After Viaan, I did want to have another child for the longest time. But I suffered from an auto immune disease called APLA and that came into play every time I get pregnant. So I had a couple of miscarriages so it was a genuine issue.”

Regarding adoption and then opting for surrogacy she said, “I didn’t want Viaan to grow up as a single child, because I’m also one of two and I know how important it is to have a sibling. Coming from that thought, I did explore other ideas as well but that didn’t pan out well. At a time when I wanted to adopt, I had put in my name and everything was underway. But then, the Christian missionary shut down because they had a tiff with Kara. I waited for nearly four years and then, I was so irritated and we decided to try the surrogacy route.”


Also though the actress has opted for surrogacy it was not easy, their daughter Samisha was born on the third attempt. Hence, when the couple got the news of their second child’s arrival, they cleared their dairies for the entire the month of February. Shilpa in conversation with Hindustan Times has said, “We had been trying for second child for five years. I had signed Nikamma and had committed my dates to Hungama when I got the news that in February, we were going to be parents again.
