This afternoon, Shabana Azmi was injured in a car accident on Mumbai-Pune Express Highway after her vehicle rammed into a truck. As per early information received, she was rushed to MGM hospital and had been admitted there. Pictures from the site of accident surfaced, which showed a wrecked car, as well as a picture of Shabana Azmi being lifted after the accident. Now, Raigad Police has given a statement stating that while Shabana Azmi and her driver are injured, Javed Akhtar, who was present in the car, is safe.

The official information received from Raigad police states, “Shabana Azmi and her driver was injured in an accident near Khalapur on Pune-Mumbai Expressway. While they were driving from Pune to Mumbai their vehicle hit by a truck on expressway. Javed Akhtar was also present in the car who is safe.
