On June 25, 1983, Kapil Dev and the boys had led Indian Cricket Team to glory on the world platform by defeating West Indies and bringing home the prestigious and much coveted Cricket World Cup, home.

One of the biggest films of 2020, all eyes were on 83‘s release, initially scheduled for April. Due to Coronavirus pandemic, the sports drama will now release once the pandemic dies down. The multi-starrer will see Ranveer Singh in the lead, essaying the role of Kapil Dev. '83 is helmed by Kabir Khan and traces India’s historic Cricket World Cup win in 1983 and is one of the most awaited films. 

Today, on occasion of the 37 year anniversary of the world cup win, the makers of the film shared a tribute video, 
“Magic was created. History was written. On This Day, Team India won the World Cup and changed Indian Cricket forever. #ThisIs83," reads the caption. On June 25, 1983, Kapil Dev and the boys had led Indian Cricket Team to glory on the world platform by defeating West Indies and bringing home the prestigious and much coveted Cricket World Cup home. India has won the trophy one more time since, in 2011, under MS Dhoni. 

The film is presented by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films in collaboration with Kabir Khan Films Production. The film is produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films, Reliance Entertainment and 83 Film Ltd. 

'83 is directed by Kabir Khan and is slated to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
