Kareena Kapoor Khan Reveals Being Replaced For Demanding Equal Pay And Living Under Her Sister Karisma's Shadow
Though coming from Bollywood's most celebrated family, Kareena Kapoor Khan had her own struggles when she entered the industry. From being under her sister's shadow, fighting wage gap and more - Bebo made some candid revelations in her recent interview.
While the debate over nepotism continues to shudder the film industry, here we have one of the finest actresses of B-town Kareena Kapoor Khan talking about her share of struggle. Coming from Bollywood's most celebrated family, Kareena Kapoor Khan did not have it easy. She is one of the finest talents we have, however, she went through her ups and lows. In a recent interview, she spoke about how she lived under her sister Karisma Kapoor's shadow for a long time and how she had to fight to get equal pay.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Bebo spoke about how initially, she was known as Karisma Kapoor's sister. She had to break that image and create her own identity. She was quoted saying, "Actually my parents have been very supportive and much more when it came to me. I think a lot of people still looked at me as Lolo’s sister which I am extremely proud of. I think whatever I am has a lot to do with Lolo as well. I had my own struggle when it came to breaking that image too. Because when you are attached to being Lolo’s sister, coming from the Kapoor family. I had my own share of struggle which people usually brush under the carpet. The perception is star children don’t have their own share of struggles."
Apart from this, there was a phase when Bebo was picked upon for her weight. To this, she stated that she is a Punjabi kudi at heart and loves her parathas. She also stated that she is happy with her body type but revealed that pressure took over her soon.
Bebo did not even mince words while talking about pay disparity in the industry and how she lost on a few roles for demanding equal pay. She was quoted saying, "I did demand a certain fee and I don’t think there is anything wrong in it. You put in equal amount of time and effort so obviously, you want a certain amount. Now there is a lot of discussion about pay disparity but when I said it earlier, no one really paid attention to it. Of course, if I have demanded something, I have been replaced but it is just that you don’t hear about it."
