After dishing out some heavyweight roles in his career in the recent times, Bebo felt Saif should sign something lighter and big-budget at this point in his career and Bunty Aur Babli 2 is a perfect one for him
Presenting some heavyweight roles on the silver screen and on OTT platform actor Saif Ali Khan is once again getting back to lighter genre films which will be a treat to watch. After Laal Kaptaan, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and web show Sacred Games, the actor has also signed a sequel – Bunty Aur Babli 2. Now reports revealed the one person responsible for Saif’s decision. In a news piece published in an entertainment portal, Bollywood Bubble, Saif was not really willing to put the pen to paper and sign on the dotted lines for this sequel, but it was better-half Kareena Kapoor Khan who convinced him to do so.
As per reports, though Saif was initially hesitant about it, Bebo had called up Rani Mukerji who is Saif’s co-star in the flick, about him giving a nod to the project. The reports further stated Bebo wanting Saif to sign a big budget and light-hearted film and the sequel to Bunty Aur Babli, happens to tick off both the boxes. Also, it mentioned Kareena feeling this is the right time for the actor in his career to sign something on these lines, post a series of serious and grey roles. Rumour also had it that the makers first approached the original male lead of the movie, actor Abhishek Bachchan, but unfortunately, the actor already had his diary full with other projects set to release in the upcoming year. Bunty Aur Babli released in 2005 with Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan as the lead pair. Whereas it would also be entertaining to watch Saif and Rani once again on celluloid after their last silver screen outing with ‘Hum Tum’ in the year 2004.
