Kanika Dhillon On Women’s Day: Taapsee, Kangana, Kiara And Sara Are Fearless; Grateful To Them For Taking Risky Roles- EXCLUSIVE
Indian author and screenwriter Kanika Dhillon has gained popularity thanks to her strong stories and characters in films like Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Judgementall Hai Kya and the recent Netflix film, Guilty. Today, on International Women’s Day, the writer pens a lovely tweet, thanking actresses like Kangana Ranaut, Taapsee Pannu, Kiara Advani and Sara Ali Khan.

We spoke to the lady and she was all praises for theses actresses and went to explain why she is full of gratitude for them. Kanika who’s written the script of Haseen Dillruba, her next with Taapsee Pannu started off by saying, “Many of them were not open to the idea of adultery and the concept of loving another man while being married to someone else. Any actor is very image conscious, but there are a few of them who want to push the envelope. Taapsee is one of them. She is fearless and takes risks.”

Then, she talks about Kangana, “Judgementall Hai Kya was very experimental and niche. Kangana has been one of the A-listers who has delivered box-office hits. She is also a risk taker. Actresses like Taapsee, Kangana or even Kiara post Kabir Singh are responsible for merging commercial content with new kinds of ideas and characters because writers and directors alone can’t do it. You need these star faces to make these choices.”

As for Kiara, she feels post Kabir Singh, the actress has become a force to reckon with and now, with her portrayal of Nanki in Netflix film Guilty, she has only taken it up a notch.
Amongst the new crop of actors, she feels Sara Ali Khan is open to taking risks. “Even Sara is fearless because she had lots of options to choose from. Yet, she chose to play a small town girl in her first film Kedarnath, at such an early age. As a creator and someone who likes to write strong characters for women, it's very encouraging for me to reach out to these people. That's why I wrote that tweet for women's day because I wanted to acknowledge these women and say Thank you.”

But then, she doesn’t leave the men behind as she adds, “I also want to thank the men, be it Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal, Rajkummar Rao, they also took huge risks. Even Vikrant Massey in Haseen Dilruba. Look at their roles in Manmarziyaan, Judgementall Hai Kya; characters that men would think before taking up.”
