Irrfan Khan Death: Nawazuddin Siddiqui Buries The Hatchet With Lunchbox Co-Star: ‘Never Thought Will Have To Say Alvida So Soon’
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is said to have had conflicts with Irrfan Khan in the past, from the time of The Lunchbox, has written a heartfelt post mourning his demise
Irrfan Khan’s death has come as a shock to not just members of the film fraternity, but also to his millions of fans all over the world. Bollywood celebrities have been mourning the loss on social media, and now Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui also remembered Irrfan Khan in his post. Nawazuddin and Irrfan have always been considered as competitions and had a somewhat similar journey in the film industry. It is also said that there was a cold war between the actors since the time of Lunchbox, a film in which they both starred together.
While the reason isn’t exactly known, it has often been reported over the years that the two ignore each other. Some reports state that it began at an award function when Nawazuddin thanked everyone for Lunchbox but forgot Irrfan Khan. Some even claim that Nawazuddin had hired 'fans' to cheer for him at The Lunchbox press meet, and that had pissed off Irrfan Khan. However, Nawazuddin has now buried the hatchet with his co-star and wrote a heartfelt post on his social media mourning Irrfan Khan’s demise.
Nwawzuddin Siddiqui wrote, “In d year 2000 a film directed by #IrrfanKhan named ALVIDA starred me & I ws lucky 2 hv my mentor as my co-star in many films. No 1 wil evr b able 2 fill his space in d entire world of cinema. Never thot in d worst of my dreams, dat wil hv 2 say “ALVIDA” so soon RIP #IrrfanKhan.”
Irrfan Khan had been battling neuroendocrine tumour and breathed his last on April 29, 2020. The last rites took place this afternoon. A statement released by his family said, "Irrfan was buried at the Versova kabrastan in Mumbai at 3 pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives, and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he's in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss."
