Gangubai Kathiawadi: Ajay Devgn To Star Alongside Alia Bhatt In Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Magnum Opus?
Reportedly, Ajay Devgn to romance Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi!
While the epic reunion of Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali is still a dream for all the fans out there, it looks like the latter is now collaborating with Ajay Devgn. Well, it’s coincidental considering both Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have worked with SLB in the romantic musical, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Anyways, coming back to the point, if a report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, Ajay Devgn might star opposite Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The reports stated that, in the film, Alia Bhatt will be seen as a madam from Kamathipura brother during 1960s and Ajay Devgn, on the other hand, will essay the role of one of Alia’s gangster lovers. Reportedly, the film is based on one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Kamathipura, in which Gangubai was the only brothel madam to own a black Bentley. The film is supposed to go on floors this year. A source close to the film’s development told to the portal that it was during a recent Diwali party that Ajay and SLB met and soon after the filmmaker invited him over to his office.

Post the meeting, SLB offered two films to Ajay, one of which is a biopic and the other film is fictional – Baiju Bawra – in which Ajay was offered a Tansen’s role. The source added, “Ajay liked his role in Gangubai as it’s an intense character – a mobster with a golden heart who teaches Gangubai the tricks of the trade and falls in love with her.
